Temperament: Discerning boy who likes to work things out at his own pace, when he accepts you he’s a loyal friend for life.

Story: Rescued from a tiny flat in Wales last year in a dreadful state of neglect, had lived with another large breed female dog in the past.

Likes: People who respect his space and give him time to gain confidence.

Dislikes: Being approached too quickly and being stroked by strangers in the head area (who doesn’t!), unable to live with cats.

Best feature: Beautiful St Bernard head shape .
