The Big Greek Shelter Restoration
The Big Greek Shelter Restoration is a hands-on mission to repair, restore, and revive the Happy Tails shelter in Nafpaktos, Greece. With over 100 rescued dogs, many of them large breeds, we’re rebuilding vital infrastructure to give them the safe, secure environment they deserve.
You can sponsor an entire project or a portion of it - every pound raised goes directly to the welfare and protection of these dogs.
General Fencing
Much of the existing fencing is worn and no longer secure, putting the dogs at risk. This will ensure strong, reliable fencing that keeps them safe and protected.

Replacement Gates (6 units)
The current gates are damaged and unsuitable for a busy rescue shelter. We’re replacing them with proper, secure gates that are fit for purpose and safe for daily use.

Kennel Houses (8 units)
Many of the dogs sleep in makeshift shelters that don’t provide enough protection. These new kennel houses will be warm, secure, and built to last.
• What’s Included: Timber, roofing, pallets, and all materials needed to build solid kennel houses.

Plastic Beds (30 units)
Many of the dogs sleep on hard concrete or bare ground. These sturdy plastic beds provide a proper resting place, helping with comfort and hygiene.
• What’s Included: 30 durable plastic dog beds, easy to clean and suited for large breeds.

Shade Netting (200m)
The shelter has very little shade, leaving dogs exposed to the sun and rain. This netting will create cool, shaded areas where they can rest comfortably.

Anti-Insect Collars (100 units)
Parasites are a major issue for shelter dogs, causing discomfort and disease. These protective collars help keep fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes at bay.
• What’s Included: 100 high-quality anti-insect collars, each lasting the majority of the year.

• Sponsor in Shares: 25 shares at £100 each (or £25 per collar)
Plastic Paddling Pools (12 units)
In the hot Greek climate, the dogs need a way to cool off. These paddling pools offer relief and enrichment, especially for the more active dogs.
• What’s Included: 12 sturdy plastic paddling pools for supervised play and cooling.

Safe Pen (Escape-Proof Enclosure)
Some of the shelter’s most active dogs currently have to be chained when unsupervised because they keep escaping because they love to dig. This enclosed, no-escape pen will allow them to move freely and safely when unsupervised.
• What’s Included: Extra fencing, reinforced overhead netting, and secure ground fixings.

Miscellaneous & Safety Supplies
From gloves and masks to paintbrushes and basic tools, this will ensure volunteers have everything they need to work safely and efficiently.
