At Saving Saints Big Paws Welfare, our rescue dogs are as unique as the people who adopt them. That’s why we don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach to rehoming. Our charity is run by a small but mighty team, dedicated to finding the perfect match for every adopter. We’ll support you throughout your adoption or foster journey, guided by the expertise of our experienced team.
“I really wanted to adopt a rescue, but I was rejected by so many charities, so I eventually gave up and bought a puppy.”
We hear this sad story time and time again.
It’s hard to believe that while tens of thousands of unwanted dogs languish in kennels, adopters are being rejected by what feels like a “tick-box” assessment process.
We don’t think this is effective risk management, or a fair one. That’s why at Saving Saints; we do things differently.

Celebrating uniqueness
Every rescue dog is different, and that’s something we celebrate.
Some of our dogs have endured unimaginable cruelty, like Conan, who was mutilated but now lives happily in Wales.
Others, like Django, were chained up before finding freedom with his adopter, John.
Each dog has its own story and individual needs, just like their future owners.
We understand that what may be the “right home” for one dog could be the wrong home for another.
That’s why our rehoming process is tailored to each case.
Our approach
With every home check, we talk to adopters at length about how they can, and sometimes cannot, meet a dog’s needs.
We consider experience, attitude, lifestyle, age, and accommodation.
We’re not naïve or reckless. We know not everyone can offer the right environment for a dog to thrive. But we approach adoption from a “count me in” rather than a “count me out” perspective.
Still not convinced?
In the last few months, we’ve successfully rehomed dogs to:
- A woman with 20 acres and a lifetime of rescue experience – previously refused because her garden didn’t have a “6 ft fence”
- A 75-year-old man who walks five miles a day – considered “too old” by others
- Families with dog-savvy children under the age of 12
Have you been refused before?
If you’ve been turned away by other rescues, please reach out to us.
We can’t promise we’ll place a dog with you, but we promise an honest conversation about what might be possible.

Every one of our rescue dogs is a life waiting to be changed.
Your kindness could be their Christmas miracle.
